How can you find the best diet pills on the market? That is a good question because all of the best diet pills on the market seem to be hiding amongst the millions of piece of crap ones. I have probably spent well over a thousand dollars of the years on diet pills and I still end up getting ripped off from time to time.

To find the best diet pills on the market you need to do some research of your own. Don’t trust what other people say unless they are your close friend because most of the time they have an agenda and you can never really know if they are telling the truth in the diet pill world.

When looking for the best diet pills, I usually start off by searching a key word in Google like best diet pills or appetite suppressants. Once I found a diet pill that peaks my interest I take a look at the ingredients. If all of the ingredients aren’t listed or the amounts aren’t listed I usually just jump to the next diet pill because it is not worth my time.

Once you have found a diet pill that you look according to ingredients and potency do a search of reviews about the product. This will help you know if anybody has had any trouble with the diet pill or make you aware of any side effects.

After I have decided on a diet pill I usually look for it on amazon.com to see it is sold there. They usually have the best deals. Sometimes I look on ebay but I don’t trust ebay as much as amazon. If I have to buy from the official site I always make sure to read the fine print so that I don’t get stuck with an auto-shipment diet pill. Make sure to look at all of the sub-pages because sometimes the info is on one of those pages.

I realize that not every weight loss pill works the same for everybody. If you go to any weight loss forum you will see just that. Some people claim to lose weight, while others claim to have gained weight.

I am one of those people claiming to lose weight. I have lose 25 pounds on Adapexin. This was an amazing accomplishment for me, considering the last few years I have only managed to add 10 pounds to my body each year.

What Adapexin did for me was slow down my appetite. I would always be starving between breakfast and lunch and then again between lunch and dinner and last of all the time that I was most hungry was around eleven at night. Luckily for me Adapexin has been able to help me control these cravings.

Adapexin also helped me with my exercising which was pretty none existent before. It really helps give me the energy that I need to make through my workout. On top of this Adapexin is also suppose to be able so increase fat breakdown and block fat storge.

So far I am down 24 pounds. Hopefully I will be able to get down another 20 pounds over the next two months. This is quite a goal and I realize that but with Adapexin at least it is a lot easier. Some people say that using a weight loss pill is not healthy but I would also say to them being over weight is probably more unhealthy. Whatever the case may be Adapexin is a good diet pill.

“Eat more fiber”, we hear it all the time from Bob Greene to Dr. Oz so why don’t we do it? Many of us don’t worry about the amount of fiber in our diet, because we do not understand why it is important. And so many of us still worry about gas, bloating and cramps… fiber sort of has a bad rap.

But, there are always solutions. You can have your fiber and lose weight too!

Psyllium Husk is most effective dietary fiber– and here is why…

Psyllium Husk or Isphagula is the covering of seeds from the plant, Plantago Psyllium. Psyllium Husk has long been recognized as an excellent means of getting more dietary fiber into a our diet due to its high fiber count in comparison to other grains. Oat bran, a good source of fiber, has about 5 grams of fiber per a third of a cup. Psyllium husk, on the other hand, offers approximately 71 grams of fiber for that same third of a cup. Wow!

Fiber is very effective at reducing cholesterol when included in a low-fat diet. As it passes through our digestive tract, it affects the way your body digests food and absorbs nutrients. In addition to lowering cholesterol, increasing fiber intake can also help control blood sugar, promote regularity, prevent gastrointestinal disease and help control your weight.

But is that much fiber safe to eat and why do we need it fiber? What is fiber, anyway?

Dietary fiber is the part of a plant (fruit, vegetable or grain) our bodies cannot digest. Fiber comes in two forms, soluble and insoluble. Most foods contain some of both. Each form has a different effect on our health.

Soluble fiber helps lower LDL cholesterol. Sources of soluble fiber include oats, oat bran, barley, dried beans, lentils, split peas, most fruits and psyllium. The best-known form of psyllium is contained in Metamucil, but it can be purchased generically in most vitamin and health-food stores as a stand alone product. We should eat 10 to 25 grams of soluble fiber each day.

Insoluble fiber is known as roughage. It promotes regularity, adds bulk and softness to stools, prevents many gastrointestinal disorders and assists with weight management. Prime sources of insoluble fiber include wheat bran, vegetables, whole grain cereals and breads. We should eat 10 to 15 grams of insoluble fiber each day.

If you plan carefully, making sure you meet your soluble and insoluble fiber goals each day you will not only feel like eating less, your food will spend less time in your small intestine. This is good news because the bad fats and excess sugar that you may have eaten in the same meal with your fiber will have less time to absorb into the blood stream and will be eliminated through the digestive system sooner. Basically, fiber soaks up fat. Eat high-fiber foods with high-fat foods to decrease the absorption of fat. Increase your daily fiber and you’ll absorb fewer calories and lose weight.

The astragalus root is becoming more and more popular in western civilization. It started as an herbal supplement in China hundreds of years ago. They used it to treat all sorts of ailments like fatigue, diabetes, infections, and several different diseases. Today it is widely used in health-promoting teas. Most of the claims made by the sellers of astragalus root are far from substantiated by any US authorities. Most clinical trials have been done by random Chinese research groups or scientists and have been published in obscure journals…not exactly trustworthy.

Nevertheless, astragalus root has found its way into many weight loss supplements and herbal mixes. First and foremost, you should understand that it is highly unlikely that astragalus root will help you lose weight. If it does anything, it will make you use the bathroom often (it is a diuretic) and you will lose some water weight, but we all know that never lasts long. Some proponents of astragalus root claim that it will boost your metabolism and therefore lead to weight loss. This claim may be true, but there is no credible clinical evidence to prove it. If astragalus root contains certain stimulants (i.e. caffeine) then it may indeed help increase your metabolism (assuming there is enough caffeine present to create such an effect). But, because it is still unproven it would be wise to use clinically tested ingredients first. If you are big into the natural/herbal form of medicine then maybe it’s worth a shot, but there are probably even better “natural” ingredients out there when it comes to weight loss.

You should also be aware of the potential side effects involved with taking astragalus root. If you are undergoing chemotherapy you should not take astragalus root without consulting with your physician. Astragalus root is also a natural blood thinner and vasodilator so you should not take it if you are currently on medications for that same purpose. These medications (i.e. Coumadin) are usually given to patients who have suffered a heart attack or have very high blood pressure.

The recommended dosage for astragalus root varies depending on both its form and desired function. For a standardized extract, use 250 to 500 mg 3-4 times per day. For tea, drink 3 to 6 g of boiled, dry root per 12 oz. of water, 3 times per day. Take 2-4 ml of fluid extract 3 times daily and 500 to 1000 mg of powdered root 3-4 times daily. If you take astragalus root moderately any side effects should be minor.

Is astragalus root worth trying? Depends on what you want out of it. If you want a natural, energizing tea with some potentially great health benefits then it is probably a great product for you. If, however, you’re looking to lose weight astragalus root is not your best option. It is cheap so I guess if you’re really into the herbal medicine scene and you want to lose some weight you can give it a go…just don’t get your hopes up.

The Damiana herb is not exactly well-known or booming with popularity as of yet. But, it is gaining more and more attention as both an aphrodisiac and a weight loss aide. The herb can be ingested in several different ways and can cause different reactions in different people. An authority on herbs has said, “Different preparations can be made from the leaves of the damiana herb, it can be taken in the form of an herbal tea or they can even be smoked like tobacco, the use of any of these derivatives will induce a relaxed state of mind in the individual using them. The herb will also induce a subtle kind of high tinged with sexual overtones, and the effect is a little reminiscent of the effects induced by smoking marijuana. Women are supposed to be much more highly effected by the medication especially, when they use it over a long period of time.”

Most users and sellers of the damiana herb have suggested that it is a more powerful aphrodisiac for women than it is for men, although it should be effective for both. Clinical studies involving damiana herb’s libido properties aren’t exactly solid (mostly because they are done on rats not humans) but the results do confirm that damiana can increase the sexual drive and activity of sexually impotent rats. It is logical to assume that it would do the same for humans, but we can’t say for certain yet. That being said, most people who buy the damiana herb for its aphrodisiac properties have been pleased with the results.

As far as weight loss is concerned, there is no real evidence that the damiana herb works. Some have claimed that it will suppress your appetite, but not clinical trials exist to prove that. It does not increase metabolism or burn fat either. The studies that have been done involving weight loss and damiana often involve other ingredients (i.e. caffeine, green tea extract, etc.). So even if some of these studies prove the ingredients effective, there is no way of knowing if damiana had anything to do with the weight loss because it could have been solely a result of the other active ingredients. Weight loss companies capitalize on some of these studies and throw damiana herb in their supplements promoting it as a weight loss ingredient when it’s really just a filler.

Side effects from taking damiana herb should be minimal. Extensive use could lead to liver and urinary tract problems. Also, pregnant mothers should not use damiana as it has abortive properties and could be seriously damaging to both mother and fetus for that reason.

In summary, the damiana herb is fairly cheap and may be a great, natural way to increase your libido. We would recommend using about a tablespoon as a serving size and only taking it when needed (not daily). It is relatively safe and worth trying for sexual impotence. But, if you are looking for a quality diet ingredient damiana herb is not the answer.

CLA’s (conjugated linoleic acids) are effective weight loss ingredients. Dietary sources of CLA include meat and dairy products, but that’s only half the story. In order to get CLA’s from your diet you need to be eating meat and dairy products from grass-fed animals as opposed to animals fed hay, silage, and/or grain. Eggs are another good source of CLA.

CLA’s are important and effective because they can help your body reduce fat mass and gain lean muscle. CLA is not a miracle compound that will make you lose 10 pounds a week. It is a much more modest and long-term kind of weight loss supplement. Realistically you can expect to lose about 0.09 kg of fat per week. That’s definitely not a lot, but over time it makes a difference.

There have been several studies done involving CLA’s on animals and humans alike. Results are mixed for several reasons. First, clinical trials are not created equally. Some are better designed, use better instruments, test more accurate biomarkers, have a larger sample size, etc. Second, sometimes there are other active ingredients besides the one being measured (in this case CLA) that can skew results one way or the other. Finally, different trials use different dosages of the ingredient in question which often times leads to very different results.

One of the best analyses of CLA supplementation was done by the University of Wisconsin Medical School. They gathered together most of the studies done and determined that CLA was an effective weight loss supplement and that the proper dosage was 3.2 grams per day. Now other supplements and even some other expert diet sites will claim that taking more CLA will increase the amount of fat you lose per week. This is unsubstantiated and likely untrue. The Wisconsin researchers found that using more than 3.2 grams per day, although not harmful, was not any more effective at instigating fat metabolism.

In terms of side effects, CLA should be relatively safe. The one possible issue concerns obese people and a potential resistance to insulin and eventual development of diabetes. Some evidence suggests that long-term use of CLA supplements can make you more resistant to insulin. However, this evidence does not come from human trials and testing for these particular side effects is still in its infancy. If you are extremely overweight or already have diabetes I would suggest consulting with your physician before supplementing with CLA.

In conclusion, 3.2 grams per day of CLA can definitely help you lose weight, but the process will be a little slow and you will have to exercise and watch what you eat still. It is far from a miracle cure for obesity and excess fat, but with patience and perseverance you will see results. CLA supplements should not be very expensive, unless they have lots of other fat burners/appetite suppressants, so don’t overpay for CLA by itself.

Inositol is part of the vitamin B complex. Although it is not technically a B vitamin, it performs many of the same actions as they do. Inositol, like other B vitamins, plays an important role in the breakdown of fat in the liver. This is why many experts suggest that inositol may be valuable in lowering cholesterol. The other potential benefit of this action is that an increase in fat metabolism should lead to a decrease in fat storage and therefore a decrease in body weight. This reasoning is logical and provides us with insight as to why more and more diet supplements are including inositol as one of their primary ingredients.

However, the clinical trials testing inositol’s weight loss power are few and far between. Much more research has been devoted to inositol’s other health benefits, which we will cover shortly. The lack of clinical evidence to support the science behind inositol’s fat burning properties is a cause for concern. Any time a particular ingredient is being touted as the next breakthrough in weight loss (although I am not sure that diet experts have made such claims about inositol) without the necessary evidence it should cause you to lift at least one eyebrow. In my estimation, the good outweighs the bad when it comes to inositol. Side effects are very minimal (cramping and possibly diarrhea) while the possible upside is increased fat metabolism and weight loss. Assuming you don’t have to pay out of the nose for it, inositol seems like it is definitely worth a shot.

If you’re still not convinced that the good outweighs the bad when it comes to inositol, then perhaps the following information will help you understand why that is. Clinical trials have shown that inositol is an effective treatment for polycystic ovary syndrome. Also, new research has found that inositol reduces demyelination of nerves. Myelin is a fatty coating around most nerve fibers allowing for better conductivity between and through nerves. It is like the plastic coating around an extension cord. Demyelination is when this coating wears down and deteriorates which leads to nerve signaling problems. This ailment is known as Alzheimer’s disease. Inositol can also be used to treat those suffering with Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and causes fewer side effects than conventional drugs. It has also shown promise in the treatment of depression, bipolar disorder, bulimia, and panic attacks. Finally, inositol may help treat certain types of cancer, but more human trials are necessary to confirm any cancer-fighting benefits.

There is definitely a need for more research to be done on the positive (and potentially negative) long-term effects of inositol supplementation. As we learn more we can come to an understanding of the proper dosage of inositol for any of the various ailments it can alleviate. For now, it is safe to say that inositol has great upside and value for dieting and beyond. So don’t knock it till you try it, or you may regret it.

The Valerian root is often used by those who struggle with insomnia and anxiety. It has been used throughout the ages to combat these and other ailments. Clinical trials involving valerian root are still too few and too limited in scope to draw any kind of definitive conclusions about the herb. That being said, many people still turn to valerian root because it is a natural/herbal way to treat insomnia and anxiety. It is hard to doubt that valerian root could work to relieve the aforementioned ailments, especially since it has been around for so long and used by so many groups of people and cultures. But, whether or not you decide to try valerian root you should be aware of its side effects.

Valerian root can act as a diuretic causing people to use bathroom frequently throughout the night which kind of defeats the purpose of treating insomnia. Certain clinical trials have reported occasional symptoms such as dizziness, headache or gastrointestinal problems. Valerian root should not be taken by woman who are pregnant or who are nursing as its safety has not been evaluated by the FDA and it’s just a good rule of them to avoid untested supplements for expectant mothers.

Valerian root should never be taken in addition to other depressants like alcohol or opiates. You should be conservative in your dosage and you shouldn’t discontinue use of valerian root abruptly, unless instructed by a doctor. Also, because of a possible negative interaction with benzodiazepines and barbiturates (i.e. Valium, Xanax, Ativan, etc.) people on these medications should not use valerian root; it could lead to serious heart complications.

While taking valerian root you may also experience: drowsiness, depression, stomachache, apathy, anxiety, and/or night terrors. You may also have an allergic reaction which could result in skin rashes, hives, and/or difficulty breathing. Long-term use may result in cardiac problems and in some cases mental illness.

As with most herbal supplements, valerian root is likely safe for most people. You are not likely to experience any serious side effects and as long as you don’t take valerian root with other depressants you should be fine. The determining factor in whether or not you decide to try valerian root should be effectiveness and cost. It should be relatively cheap and readily available. Also, don’t be fooled by any sort of diet or weight-loss company claiming that Valerian root will somehow help you lose weight. There is no evidence to support such nonsense. Valerian root will not suppress your appetite or help you burn fat or boost your metabolism. It is a mild sedative so you should only use it to help you get some sleep or calm your nerves.

There are so many diet products out there that promote antioxidants like grape seed liquid as coming-of-age metabolism boosters and fat burners. One of the more popular ingredients these days is the Acai Berry. Dr. Oz has talked about it on his show and it seems to be in everything these days. I don’t doubt its antioxidant properties and overall health value. But, I do doubt any correlation they make between it and weight loss. This same thing goes for any dietary supplement or weight loss pill claiming that antioxidants will help you shed unwanted pounds. How exactly?

Grape seed liquid will not help you lose weight. It does not suppress your appetite. It won’t increase lipid metabolism. It won’t help you build lean muscle. So if a company is claiming that it does any of those things you know they are not being totally honest with you. Grape seed liquid will help lower your blood pressure. It will improve vascular health and function (veins, arteries, and capillaries). It may help prevent certain types of cancer and treat certain types as well (clinical evidence is not conclusive). It may be helpful in treating asthma and emphysema. It has also been shown to help with joint pain and swelling and arthritis.

Grape seed liquid is more popular in Europe and because of that it hasn’t been tested as extensively in the US. The recommended daily dosage is about 150-200 mg per day and research has shown the grape seed liquid is even more effective when combined with other antioxidants like vit. E and C. It should be fairly safe to use in terms of side effects or allergic reactions. You may experience some nausea. It isn’t toxic in case of an overdose, but you should keep in mind that excessive supplementation of antioxidants can provide a reverse effect. In other words, if you ingest too many antioxidants they will actually become oxidizing agents and eventually free radicals themselves (the very things they are meant to neutralize).

Grape seed liquid has a lot of potential in my mind. It could be a great addition to current medications for cholesterol, heart disease, asthma, etc. I don’t know if it much more effective than eating plenty of foods rich in antioxidants would be; it’s definitely more concentrated, but maybe not more effective. I would be interested to see which would have more antioxidant power, Acai berries or grape seed liquid.

In conclusion, grape seed liquid is not going to help you lose weight. It is still healthy for you and could be a great aide in treating and/or preventing certain diseases and ailments. If you see it in a diet product it is likely acting as a filler ingredient because it does not contain any fat burning properties. This is a common tactic used by many weight loss supplements. They fill their pills with lots of “good stuff” but most of it has nothing to do with weight loss. Don’t be fooled – healthy doesn’t equal effective.

Ling Zhi Review

You may have seen a lot of hype about Ling Zhi mushrooms (Ganoderma) on all sorts of blogs and herbal/alternative medicine websites. Some of the things they say are true and others not quite. If any of them are suggesting that Ling Zhi is a powerful weight loss ingredient capable of boosting metabolism, suppressing appetite, or burning fat then they haven’t done their research on Ling Zhi. There is no clinical evidence to support such claims and the Chinese themselves don’t use it for that purpose (Ling Zhi mushrooms come from China and have been used there for hundreds of years to treat several different conditions, but not obesity).

You may have read that Ling Zhi can help to lower your cholesterol, which is true, but remember that cholesterol isn’t directly related to being overweight. You can have a healthy BMI and still have really high cholesterol (it is mostly genetic).

The other potential benefits Ling Zhi has to offer include: protecting liver cells for those with hepatitis, improving signs/symptoms of coronary heart disease, and relieving problems like insomnia, headaches, depression, anxiety, and pain. That doesn’t mean Ling Zhi should be your drug of choice if you are combating depression and pain because it won’t work for everyone, but if you find that it works for you then that’s wonderful.

Something else you should consider when you take supplements with Ling Zhi is that dosages vary significantly in the clinical trials. Some recommendations suggest that 1.5 – 3 grams of Ling Zhi powder ought to be sufficient, but that’s with regard to treating insomnia, fatigue, asthma, and some types of pain (lower back). The recommended dosage for treating hepatitis, cholesterol, and others is unknown. So you can’t just assume you will get any of the potential health benefits associated with Ling Zhi by taking a 500 mg pill once a day.

As you read more about Ling Zhi you will also find that it is being touted as an effective treatment for cancer. Please understand that there is no definitive evidence that this is true. The limited number of clinical trials involving Ling Zhi and cancer patients have produced inconclusive results. It may improve immune system function in cancer patients, but it hasn’t shown to be an effective treatment for cancer.

If you suffer from some of the ailments previously listed and you’re not satisfied with the medications you’ve been taking, then you may want to try an herbal alternative because crazier things have happened. I suppose that with more research and experiments we will learn more about how Ling Zhi works and if it has any weight loss benefits. Until that time, however, don’t get sucked into buying products with Ling Zhi that claim to help you lose weight. There is no evidence to suggest that it would work and it would ultimately be a waste of your money. You should focus on proven and effective weight loss ingredients before trying something way out in left field.
